දයානන්ද ගුණවර්ධන මහතා විසින් රචනා කරන ලද නරි බෑණා ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය වේදිකා නාට්‍ය ඉතිහාසයේ සුවිශේෂී ස්ථානයක් හිමිකරගත් ජනකතා ආශ්‍රිත නාට්‍ය නිර්මාණයකි. සිංහල ජනකතාවක් පදනම් කරගනිමින් නිර්මාණය කර ඇති මෙම නාට්‍යය, හාස්‍යය, උපහාසය, ගීත සහ රංගන විලාසයන් ඔස්සේ ප්‍රේක්ෂකයාට රසවින්දනය ලබාදෙන අතරම මිනිස් හැසිරීම් හා සමාජ සම්බන්ධතා පිළිබඳව ද සිතා බැලීමට අවස්ථාව සලසයි. නරියාගේ චරිතය සහ එය වටා ගොඩනැඟෙන සිදුවීම් ඔස්සේ කපටිකම, බුද්ධිය, ආත්මාර්ථකාමීත්වය සහ පුද්ගලයන් අතර ඇතිවන ගැටුම් වැනි කරුණු හාස්‍යජනක ආකාරයෙන් ඉදිරිපත් කරයි. ජනශ්‍රැතිය, දේශීය රංග සම්ප්‍රදායන් සහ සංගීතය එකට මුසු කරමින් නිර්මාණය කර ඇති මෙම නාට්‍යය, ශ්‍රී ලාංකේය සංස්කෘතික අනන්‍යතාව පිළිබිඹු කරන ප්‍රබල කලා නිර්මාණයකි.
